This is the first week I didn’t think I’d get an update
done. It isn’t that we didn’t do
anything, it’s just that I feel so tired the only thought my brain wants to process
is how many steps is it until I get to my bed.
I know though, that if I don’t update I’m starting down a slippery slope
that will very likely end in my stopping my weekly updates. As well, if I can’t muster the energy to
write tonight, I know this summer when we are gone on vacation will be
miserable. So, here I sit on the edge of
the couch, chocolate chip applesauce cookies in hand for energy and a
determination to not quit, not give up or in, but to push through and document
our adventurous week.
The week started off as a typical week for the Nutt House –
preschool, kinder prep, dance class, sports class, and swim lessons keeping us
on our toes.

| He loved this new contraption built by his teacher |
Of course we didn’t settle for weekly routine activities
being all the Nutt House did for the week.
We wouldn’t be Nutt-y without some Nutt-y fun. So, when Amazon delivered a box big enough for
two to our house crayons came out and fun ensued. Watching young imaginations at work can be
relaxing, rewarding, and soothing and this was one such case.

| Welcome to the Story Box |
Thursday night the favorite fast food restaurant of the Nutt
House Chick-Fil-A sponsored a Mother-Son date and Kaden and I jumped at the
chance to go. Upon arrival and ordering
we were escorted to our seats where Kaden was given a rose to present to me
along with a knight’s helmet and shield to color, the theme of the night was
Date Knight. A little after we were presented
with our food we were treated to a magic show followed by ice cream and bounce
time for my lady killer of a date. I
will never tire of watching the eyes of my children as they see something for
the first time (in this case the magic show) or something that awes them. It’s is rejuvenating to see how the little
things in life can provide such joy.

| I could gaze at him and in those eyes for hours |

Friday was the last Free Art Friday until fall as school is
wrapping up and summer is all but here.
We could not let the last Free Art Friday go by without joining in on
the fun, so off we went for a morning of space exploration, crafts and snacks
with friends.
 |
| Their faces say it all~ |
 |
| Space ship decorate is serious work |
 |
| As is necklace making |
 |
| Because her mom didn't think to have the planets orbit the sun we have a nice, neat line |
 |
| and chaos because, he's Kaden |
Thanks to some rain and weather we’ve had lately the high
temperature for Friday was 72 so instead of going home after Free Art Friday we
took advantage of the weather and made our way over to the zoo for a visit
before it’s too hot to even think about outdoor activities. The day could not have been better for a zoo
trip. The sky remained overcast most of the day and
we were greeted with the occasional sprinkle – not enough to soak us, just
enough to keep us cool and wet the ground.
If I didn’t know it was May I would never have believed that it was
thanks to the great weather and temperature.
Often when we go to the zoo we try to invite a friend to join us. Historically this has meant Kara has had a
zoo buddy while Kaden and I partnered up.
Not this time, it was Kaden who had a friend (Bo) join us while Kara and
I were zoo buddies. I have to say, I
rather enjoyed the change. In part, I
recognize after next year my little princess will be off at school all day and
our Nutt-y adventures will be more limited.
*It doesn't seem to matter how often some of the same pictures get taken I still like them and have to include the same shots just different days, different times, and always a little older :(
 |
| Take my picture, mom. Why? Just 'cuz |
 |
| Always love us the monkeys! |
 |
| I love that our kids can enjoy their favorite activities with friends |
 |
| There was a baby orangutan with it's momma and Kara LOVED watching it |
 |
| Such a cute momma and baby |
 |
| Love this little stud! |
 |
| Komodo Dragon |
 |
| One of many, many snack breaks |
 |
| ROOOOAAAAARRRRR |
 |
| So very alike - makes it so much fun! |
 |
| Kara's a natural |
Saturday we ventured up to Kingman to meet up with my dad
for a short visit over lunch while we picked up some meat from a pig that had
been raised for us and had been butchered. Though the visit was short, no surprise, it
was the highlight of the week for our little Nutt’s and a sweet blessing for me
as well. Only hard thing about the short visit was convincing Kaden he didn't need to bring his new suitcase and informing the little Nutt's they'd have to wait until later for Grandpa to take them fishing.
 |
| I think one would be hard pressed to determine who was happier |
 |
| Let us out of here!! |
After all was said and done this week, poor Brent who woke
up early to drive to Kingman yesterday had to work all night long. Literally started working around 9 pm and
didn’t get home until after 3 pm today!
Yikes!!! Needless to say, we are
a tired Nutt House. With the little Nutt’s
sleeping soundly in their beds I believe it is time for the bigger Nutt’s to
call it an early night and do the same!
