There's No Time Like Quality Time

Another week has come and gone and already I feel like I’m slacking too much when it comes to updating this.  Ugh!!!  52 weeks of consistency, time to kick it back into gear before bad habits rear their ugly heads and I’m not updating at all like I should.
We’ve had an enjoyable week made up of everyday activities with some treasured one on one time squeezed in for this momma Nutt and our kiddos.
While Kara was at a dinosaur discovery preschool class at the Natural History Museum again this past Friday Kaden and I got to enjoy some valued mom and Kaden time.  I love this time with him as we are away from everyday distractions and for two all too short hours my attention is focused completely on Kaden, what he enjoys and what interests him.  This week at the Natural History Museum it was puzzles that captured the attention of Kaden.  In each exhibit containing a puzzle we stopped to sit on the floor and complete at least one puzzle.  While puzzles were the “bee’s knees” this trip the opportunity to touch and sit on the large dinosaur bone in the middle of the dinosaur exhibit, as always, drew Kaden’s attention as he eagerly climbed on up to pose for a picture.  Kaden in such an interesting young man – he is friendly beyond belief, carefree, his eyes exude happiness and he always draw me into warmth and smiles.  When he is away from other kids, however, there is a side to his personality that rarely gets to come out that I am intrigued by.  In addition to the easily seen components of his personality he can be focused and confident in ways that make me see him so much older than he really is.  Knowing that Kaden and I will have so much more of this one on one time next year when Kara goes off to kindergarten makes the kindergarten transition somewhat easier.
This little man is just the greatest

I love this picture, his innate curiosity at it's best

Speaking of our soon to be kindergarten-er, she and I enjoyed some amazing girl-time Saturday morning when we attended a performance of Disney on Ice presents Frozen together.  While we missed the usual family time at Disney on Ice, the chance to enjoy some time together was magnificent.  After we told her she’d get to go she literally counted down the days until our performance.  After enjoying a good family breakfast, she and I both scrambled getting ready before heading off, just the two girl Nutts.  We arrived early, which was nice so we could take our time walking around, shopping for mementos of our trip, selecting overpriced refreshments and working our way up to our seats.  Though we paid for two seats, Kara sat on my lap the entire time and I was ever so grateful for the precious moments that afforded me to hold my sweet little girl on my lap while creating a new memory together.  During intermission and during the drives to and from the show we had a chance to visit – talk about school, dance, friends, church, and anything else that came to mind.  Oh, how I love moments like this!!!
Girl power!

So excited for the show to start

Ending of the show with all the Disney characters back out on stage

In addition to the special moments between kiddos and myself we engaged in other fun activities during the week.  Both kiddos, of course, enjoyed their own pastimes and took advantage of the good weather to spend some much needed and desired time outdoors.  We took a trip to the park, had fun riding bikes and scooters, and snuck outback to play at every available opportunity.  Toward the end of the week, we went to a Primary year theme kick off Superhero party at the church where the kiddos played a variety of games to walk away with their own superhero capes and prizes.  One of my favorite memories of the week came when after a long day out and about the kiddos decided to be a tad goofier than normal.  I’m not sure how, but, Kara somehow persuaded Kaden to dress up while they sang, “Let It Go”.  Somehow I was fortunate enough to capture the singing on video which I may or may not use in the future as blackmail on at least one of our little Nutts!

He excitedly created BB-8 from the new
Star Wars movie

He was a human gumby doll as his instructors molded
his body how they wanted it to go

She walked the entire length of the gym mat like this!
Ouch!!  I hurt just seeing this!

Park play time with friends

Scooter time with the best of buddies!

Cracking open a rock we picked up at the Natural History museum to see what was inside

Our very own crystal geode!

Check out all my cool prizes mom!

What a fun week we had!  Now, this current week is half over and we’ve already had some good family time, playing games, enjoying time with cousins, and more.  It is my goal to get my act back together and Sunday evening catch up documenting the escapades of the Nutt House for this current week.  My fingers are crossed!!!
