Blue and Gold and other Nutt-y-ness

Hallelujah this past week is finished and in the books!  It seems as if last week and even just Monday was so long ago yet, at the same time, that this past week flew by in the blink of an eye.

The fantastic winter weather that Phoenix provides us with allowed for many an opportunity to be outside, whether it was jumping on the tramp, playing at the park, riding bikes and scooters, or even just decorating the driveway with many, many hearts the Nutt House ventured outdoors whenever the opportunity allowed.
Jumping high with Carmel from Preschool

She loves the monkey bars and goes backward
and forward at each chance she gets

"Hello, can anyone hear me?"

They would ride each and every day if allowed

She has fallen back in love with chalk art
and was so excited to decorate where Brent parks
so his car could have a "love explosion" and turn
from being an angry car to a love car

So happy to be covered in chalk and to have
holes in his pants!  *Crazy kid!!

I love these little munchkins!
For family home evening Tuesday, the Nutt House engaged in one of our most favorite yearly traditions, our annual Valentine dessert evening at the Melting Pot.  To say our chocolate loving Kaden was in heaven is an understatement.  Both kiddos were so excited that they ate their dinner at record speed so we could go for our FHE fun.  With so many options for our chocolate base we finally agreed on the Flaming Turtle and after the awe the chocolate being caught on fire wore off two little Nutts were eager to dive in dipping marshmallows, rice crispy treats, fruit, cake and everything else placed in front of us in chocolate.  As delicious as the treat was, it was the company, family time and overall experience of the night that our Nutt-y family enjoyed the most.
I know the picture is out of focus, but the gleam in her eyes
is too perfect not to capture

So much chocolate and so many treats to devour

My most favorite men!

My favorite little gal pal!
Of course, we had our standard activities this week with swim lessons, My Gym and dance class all keeping us a busy little group of Nutts.  Kaden continues to thrive at My Gym developing skills, getting in plenty of active time and having bounds and bounds of fun while doing so.  Kara has been busy at dance preparing for an upcoming competition she’ll have next weekend.  Our tiny dancer is so dedicated to dance as her activity and when she dances, she radiates happiness and I get lost in the emotions that her dancing emotes.

Look at me, I'm the king of the world!

Definitely in his happy place
While this doesn’t seem like much, there was plenty of smaller items keeping us on our toes.  A PTO meeting for me, some major changes at work keeping Brent plenty busy and of course the Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scouts.  The biggest Cub Scout event we do each year.  With Brent serving as Cubmaster and I, the Primary Presidency member over Cub Scouts we had our work cut out for us.  This year we chose to go with a medieval theme.  A few weeks ago, Brent visited the SCA group and invited them to join us for the Blue and Gold and talk with the boys about what they do.  A fabulous knight and an additional member of the SCA came and spoke to the boys and their families about what the SCA is, how they train, what people would have eaten and worn back in the medieval days.  A highlight for the boys and their younger siblings was when they got to take a few swings at the knight with his practice sword.  The presentation along with a meal consisting of period appropriate foods (chicken drumsticks, roasted potatoes, apples, rolls, carrots, and cream puffs) accompanied with awards turned out to make for a fantastic evening.  The Blue and Gold was a huge success with lots of fun had by all!  That said, it was a TON of work.  By the time we were done and everything was cleaned up I felt like a puddle of cold syrup, I was spent!  Thank heavens the Blue and Gold comes along just once a year and that Brent loves being Cubmaster as much as he does.  It makes all the preparation and work that goes into the event all worthwhile.  That said, when we come home and before everything is even cleaned up, Brent asking what the theme for next year will be is a little too soon.
This man is an amazing Cubmaster among
his many other talents and skills!!

He was so, so, so excited to meet and interact with the knight

And to get to attack him... the best ever!

A much more delicate approach to attacking the knight

With the Blue and Gold and rest of the week behind us, the Nutt House is preparing for a new week and a dance competition at the end of it.  Here’s to another Nutty and crazy week for the Nutt House!
