A Week of Successes

I wasn’t going to do the update for this week until tomorrow because this Nutt-y momma is beyond tired!  I am mentally and physically drained and as anyone knows… if the mom of the house is of no use, nothing gets done.  And for the Nutt House, nothing getting done is not an option. However, as I wrapped up everything else for the night I had the nagging feeling that if I didn’t get this done tonight our 2018 blog would come to a screeching halt, despite the best of intentions.  To avoid that from happening, here is our update.  Mind you, this one will be short and cover just the major highlights of our week.
Kaden had quite the week with the achievement of a stripe promotion in Jiu Jitsu.  While he was receiving the promotion, Professor Luis commented that Kaden is someone he can count on to always be ready for class, to do his best, and help others.  That is our lil’ man… he is a goof ball, funny as heck, but when he gets into something he gives it his all and above the rest he is always willing to help others.  We are so proud of Kaden and the young man that he is transforming into.
He is getting quite good at sparring.  If he
could just get as good with his jumping jacks!

Along with success at Jiu Jitsu Kaden started back up with swimming lessons for the year.  This silly little fish is working to get his skill level back to where it was at towards the end of the last swim season.  That said, Kaden is always willing to try and has such a positive attitude that I am certain we will shortly see him swimming laps once again.  I will say this about his swimming though, Kaden isn’t afraid to try, he remains positive, and the kid is the best in his class with his backstroke.  *Now, if only he’d give it his all with the other strokes he’d be golden.
And the swimming season begins!

To top off the week for Kaden, Brent took him to Legoland for a bit of fun Saturday morning.  Kaden had been anxiously awaiting for his chance to see the new 4D Ninjago movie they now have.  His feedback regarding the movie was that it was too short.  I take that to mean he liked it.  Of course, his face in the pictures of his time at Legoland shows what he really thought of his hours there.

While Kaden was enjoying his Lego fix Kara was busy preparing for a long weekend of dance (hence the reason I am so tired).  Saturday, along with others from her studio Kara performed in her small group number, her large group number and the studio’s production number.  Not only that, but toward the end of the evening while awaiting the final set of awards for the day Kara was able to get up on stage for a charity dance down.  For this, she had to learn a quick dance and the judges narrowed the dancers down until they picked a winner.  Where this took place at the end of a very long dance day, our tiny dancer did amazing!  The way she is willing to just get up on a stage and learn something new, performing it in front of an auditorium full of people is beyond amazing in my book.  Not to mention the level of respect and admiration I have for the level of hard work, focus and attention that she puts into developing the skills needed to be the dancer she is becoming.  Saturday’s dance day ended with the three dances having all earned a Top 3 Award for their categories!

Sunday, bright and early Kara was back at it, competing in her trio.  This trio… this group of dancers… I love the friendship, dedication to their dance, the warmth, and the beauty (both outside and inner) that they bring and share with others.  This group of girls did amazing, bringing their best performance yet.  The end result of their hard work was a 1st place award for their trio!

After the awards for the trio were finished, Kara and I jetted back home where we joined the boys in preparing for church and continuing on with our Nutt-y lives.
This is of course, not everything that kept us busy this past week, but it is a highlight of the key events.  As for Brent and myself, well, cheered on, supported, and chauffeured the little Nutts around on the adventures of this week.  It may be Nutt-y, but these are our Nutt-y lives and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
