All Hallows Eve

Have you ever noticed how Halloween the holiday that at least while I was growing up was celebrated on one, maybe two days depending on where in the week the 31st fell has turned into almost a month long celebration?  Here at the Nutt House we’ve sure taken notice!  As the number one holiday for our biggest Nutt we try to make certain we are making the most out of All Hallows Eve and this year was no exception.

Kara who has a love of people and a nurturing nature about her dressed up as Doc McKara this year (in part a play on one of her favorite tv character’s Doc McStuffin).  She now has her very own embroidered pair of scrubs and used her working doctor tools as part of her costume.  Kaden, our analytical little man who enjoys constructing things went as Bob the Builder.  Thanks to Halloween he now has his own tool belt and set of tools.

This year we found multiple pumpkin patches to go and visit, the Botanical Gardens we ventured to a couple different times.  One of the great things about this patch is that the kids get to pick out and take home their own pumpkin.  I love this and think it is great!  However, I am not the mom that is going to encourage my child to pick out the biggest pumpkin they can find, instead, it is their choice and starting next year for Kara, she’ll have to be able to carry whatever pumpkin she picks out.  With these guidelines in place, both Kaden and Kara picked out perfect sized pumpkins to decorate just for them!

She LOVES petting animals!  Maybe her Doc stills will best be used as Vet skills?

Look mom, one for each hand!

It's so heavy!

Beautifully decorated!
This is the one!

So many choices

This year, our family discovered a new pumpkin patch out at MacDonald’s Ranch in Scottsdale.  What a fun place!  We were able to take a hay wagon ride out to a pumpkin patch to pick some pumpkins, additionally they had a petting zoo, panning for gold, and oh yes….  Horse rides!  Of course the horse riding was done more than once by our up and coming cowgirl.  This was a great place that the Nutt House looks forward to visiting again and again!

I'm rich!

Lovin' life, they never want off

What mass marketed holiday would be complete without the involvement of the fine stores in our area?  Once again we visited Fry’s Marketplace for their annual trick or treating at the store, we visited Bass Pro Shop where we took a family picture (I still need to scan the picture!), rode a carousel, trick or treated, and did a little crafting.  To not be outdone, Krispy Kreme offered free donuts to all who dressed up on Halloween and went into the store.  Of course this meant a trip to the donut shop was in order!
She did a good job!

We made sure we had fun in other ways to help celebrate Halloween – between Halloween parties, our ward trunk or treat, making cookies, pumpkin carving, and of course good ole’ trick or treating we at the Nutt House had an amazing Halloween this year and look forward to next year when both Kaden and Kara will be a little older and a little more into and ready for the festivities of this fun fall holiday.
