An Active Bunch of Nutts

An active week was had at the Nutt House this past week!  In between regular activities such as trips to the gym, bike and scooter rides, walks, park play time, preschool, Kinder Prep classes, play dates, swim lessons and much, much more we’ve been active all week and loved it.  Of course, being active isn’t enough for the Nutt House, we strive to have fun while we do so and that’s what we’ve done this past week.
While it’s been important to us to be active, Kara and Kaden took time out of their week to pamper me one morning with breakfast in bed.  They were so proud they were able to get everything together by themselves; though how they reached the bowl, cup and such remains a mystery I don’t believe I want solved.  The cereal may have tasted okay but the beaming smiles that radiated the faces of my two little Nutts filled my soul more than any meal could have.
The umbrella was the Piece de' Resistance

This week Kaden started a new activity of his own.  An Itty Bitty Sports class that is offered through the city.  Having Kara and Kaden reverse their roles was interesting and good for them both with Kara sitting, waiting and watching while Kaden was the one engaged in his own activity.  Kaden did so well!  I was so proud of my Little Man!  He did an obstacle course, we played mini soccer, practiced tossing a bean bag, shooting bean bags across the room as if he were playing hockey, and more.  It took him a few minutes to warm up to the class and the activities but once he became comfortable he jumped into the class head first and was completely engrossed in each new task presented to him.  Watching him discover what activities he enjoys is a journey I’m proud to be a part of.

Bear crawl obstacle course

He LOVED the ladder

Double handed bean bag toss

Quite the kicker

Not to be left out of physical activities this past week Kara participated in her dance class and swim lessons.  At dance class Kara continues to inspire me as she challenges the limits of her own body pushing herself further and further, making progress as she does.  It wasn’t but a week or two ago that the level of Kara’s cartwheel mirrored that of my own (which is not a good thing).  Now, in a short time period she has improved by leaps and bounds as her movements match that of a cart wheel and her legs leave the ground.

Stretch, stretch, stretch

So much progress, so much improvement!

At swim class Kara continues to improve as her confidence improves.  It’s been interesting, with both dance and swim as her confidence level increases so does her skill level.  Kara has amazing talent within her, as she comes to recognize that the improvements she makes are nothing short of amazing.

We have recommitted the past couple weeks to limiting the amount of time the Nutt House is occupied with electronic devices.  As we’ve done that we’ve seen imaginations blossom and interest in different activities rejuvenated.  We’ve had games of hide and seek within the home, puzzle completing time, crazy amounts of story time, water fights and we’ve even cracked out the kiddie pool for the year.  The laughter of Kara and Kaden during their water fight was pure joy.

In addition to limiting our electronic time we are working to take greater advantage of the many memberships we are fortunate to have.  This past week it was back to the Natural History Museum for us where we discovered so much more than the first time we went to the museum.  The little Nutts enjoyed digging for dinosaur fossils, panning for gold (Kara panned 3 gold flakes of her own), visiting the Lost Dutchman Museum exhibit, putting dinosaur puzzles together and so much more.

He so patiently brushed away the dirt to uncover the fossils

I love how they are holding hands!  They aren't just siblings they are best of friends
(they just don't know it!)

She stuck with it until it was all done!

There was no leaving without sitting by the dinosaur outside of the museum

Thanks to a friend of Brent’s we finished off our active Saturday night with a trip to Joe’s Crab Shack where the Nutt House experienced a seafood dinner.  With each Nutt stuffed after a good meal a little post dinner playing completed our night.

As seems to be a running theme as of late, our active week would not be complete without requests from the little Nutts to have their photos taken by the tree by which we park at the church each Sunday.

Dandelions were spotted and quickly made her own.

He's such a heart breaker!  *I'm so in trouble!
What a handsome little stud!

What gorgeous little Nutts we have, if I do say so myself in my completely biased opinion!
