Mundane Week for a bunch of Nutts

After several activity packed weeks the Nutt House has enjoyed a slower paced week this past week.  Just what the doctor ordered for our worn out Nutt-y family!

Kara didn’t have school this past week which opened up the door for additional playdates.  She was one excited girl asking each day which friend she got to play with that day.  It’s a good sign that she had fun but knows her own limits when she instructs me that 2 playdates in one day is "too exhausting".  In addition to playdates Kara had dance classes this week, both her group class and her private lesson.  Her solo dance routine is coming along, I was about in tears watching her perform her dance.  She has worked hard and the hard work is paying off, Kara’s dance teacher informed us that Kara will be ready to compete in an upcoming dance competition in November.  Kara is excited where as her Nutt-y parents (especially her mom) feel excitement, pride, and a great sense of nervousness.  I know she’ll do well, I can’t explain why, I’m just nervous.
Limber little girl!
Kaden, he had week that was a bit busier with playdates scattered throughout the week himself.  Additionally, while Kara was off playing with a friend at the beginning of the week Kaden got to fulfill a wish he’s had for quite some time; we had to go to the mall for an errand and while there he got to finally ride on the train that goes around the mall!  While we rode he waived to everyone that we saw as his head whipped back and forth taking in all that he saw.  As soon as the ride was over, he was ready to go again.
Happy little man!

So super happy

For Kaden’s preschool this week it was my turn to teach and we covered the letter D, number 4, oval shape, and color blue.  To help with these this week the kiddos made drums and egg shaped music shakers.  The highlight of the week though, came when we made foaming dragons.  The look on Kaden’s face and that of his friends we do school with as they “fed” their dragons to set off the chemical reaction causing the dragons to foam was priceless.  The more tangible moments when you can tell kiddos are grasping or at least enjoying what they are learning are so precious to me.
Foaming dragon!

Kaden also tried out the next level of classes at My Gym this week, putting him in a class where there is not parent involvement.  Brent stayed and watched the whole time and said Kaden had a blast, fit right in, and did well.  I am not ready for my little man not to need us as much!

Today was the Primary Program at church, the theme this year was “I Know My Savior Lives”.  Not only did Kara have a speaking part but, she along with the rest of her class and the Sunbeams sang a part of “Jesus Once Was a Little Child” by themselves.  Not to be left out, our whole Nutt-y family participated in a group number singing “I Am A Child of God”, in 5 different languages and we sang the last two lines of the first verse in Cambodian.  Where Brent spoke Cambodian on his mission and as part our nightly routine regularly sings “I am a Child of God” in Cambodian it helped each of us to have an easier time singing the song.  The Primary Program is always my favorite Sacrament meeting at church and this year was no different.  The spirit and testimonies the sweet children share radiate deep with me.  Hearing Kara say “I can serve others by giving hugs and kisses” was my favorite part of the program.  This simple sweet sentence speaks to her tender testimony and the love she feels for all she encounters.  I hope to improve my own life and upcoming week by doing just as she spoke – serving others with simple hugs and kisses.

Now, after our more routine week, this Nutt-y group is ready for another week of fun filled adventures!
