Along with all of the outdoor adventures the Nutt House has
been engaged in recently we've made time to have some fun indoors as well.
The stories of our fun start with the introduction of a new
member of the Nutt House. You see, right
before we left for Christmas vacation Kara’s fish George got sick, so when we
left we weren't sure if he’d make it or not.
Sadly, George did not survive while we were gone. To help feel the void left in our hearts by
the passing of George, Baby Cherry has been introduced to our family. He/she (we are not sure) was a baby when we
got him/her and I am happy to report that this fish is not just surviving but
thriving in our Nutt House!
Even with the addition of Baby Cherry we haven’t forgotten
our sweet Pixie. She not only remains a
valued and loved member of our family but she is warming up to Kara and
Kaden! Pixie is at the point with Kara
that she not only tolerates her, but will LET Kara play with her and Pixie will
cuddle up with Kara, choosing to sleep with her versus anyone else at
times. Kaden, well, he and Pixie are
still determining boundaries for each other, so they aren't quite to that
cuddle buddy stage. I do have hope
though!
| My two favorite girls! If I didn't know better I'd think Pixie was annoyed by Kara (she wasn't through!) |
Kara’s love of dance class is flourishing! Watching her week over week she continually
improves and has so much fun in the process.
Two weeks ago I was beaming with pride as Kara’s dance teacher danced a
tap routine with the class then asked the girls to do it on their own, with the
teacher stepping out of the room. With a
grin stretching from ear to ear I watched as Kara was one of only 3 girls that
was able to do the routine without the instructor showing what needed to be
done. I can say, honestly that Kara did
the best job of the class, other parents even noticed and commented! Yay for Kara!
As Valentine’s Day came here at the Nutt House we engaged in
one of our favorite holiday traditions, sugar cookie baking. Valentine’s this year was extra sweet as
Brent was able to join in the decorating fun.
Kaden, who enjoyed nibbling on the cookie dough and frosting did manage
to decorate a couple cookies that did make in onto the tray and not directly
into his mouth.
Sticking with Valentine’s we were able to go to Free Art
Friday on Valentine’s Day this year. Of course, this meant that the arts and
crafts for this month were love and Valentine’s based. It was so much fun! Kara made a heart mobile that as I type is
still hanging from the light in her bedroom adding a little personal flair to
her décor.
| She so wanted me to stop with the picture so she could just craft away! |
The Nutt House has worked to find new and different ways we can have fun as a family with as many of them as possible not involving electronics. A new family favorite activity is to play indoor hide and go seek. It is so fun to watch Kaden eagerly point out where Kara is hiding, to listen to Kara giggle from her hiding spots, or to watch Kaden look for any family member as he is a good seeker. Only problem with this game - this particular Nutt (me) is running out of different hiding spots! Soon we'll be ready to take this game outdoors!
Whether inside or out, the Nutt House strives to find fun,
joy, adventure, and memory creating experiences in all that we do!
Stephanie, I am so impressed with all the things you do to make wonderful memories for your children, and even more for the ways you have helped Brent become such a great father. I know you both love your children, but I can see your touch in so many of the activities that happen. Sending you love and respect.
