All is quiet at the Nutt House

With the two little Nutt’s in bed and the only remaining sounds in the house are the sounds of the humming of the dishwasher and the keys clacking away as I type I’m able to reflect upon the week we’ve had at the Nutt House.
I was blessed with a pedicure from Kara earlier this week.  She was bursting with pride as she proudly exclaimed “I did a better job than the pedicure place people mom!”  With polish running up my toes, partial nails not even covered looking up at the love and sense of accomplishment in her little Nutt-y face I shared back in full honesty, “yes baby girl, you did”.  Granted my feet would have enjoyed the rubbing and TLC and the toenails would have been polished expertly but none of that come's with the love and admiration of a 4 year old Nutt who worked so hard to do her very best.

This week the kiddos and I ventured into the library, a place we haven’t been to in a few months and have missed.  It could be a candy store as excited as the kiddos get going into the library.  And I wouldn’t have it any other way.  Though, for Kaden I don’t know yet, if it’s picking out books for him to read, a movie to take home, or jumping off the cement blocks out front of the library that provides him with the greatest sense of satisfaction.  Thankfully I edit the books the kids give me as Kaden prefers picking up every third book within reach (and all the books in the children’s section are within his reach) and Kara picks up any that have pink binding.  After editing the books down, especially the Fancy Nancy (Kara’s current favorite book series since it means everything Kara does can be made fancy) we walked away with just 16 books and 2 movies.  I must admit, I think that is a record for the fewest books we’ve left the library with.  Aren’t we so lucky to have such problems???!?
Friday we met up with some friends for Free Art Friday over in Tempe.  This is another of those events we always seem to enjoy as the crafts are more creative than I typically think of, there’s music, snack, helpers, I mean… it’s the perfect kid activity for our Nutt-y kids!  The theme for the month was Mardi Gras.  Oh!  The memories that flooded my mind.  I do miss Baton Rouge and Louisiana!

Riding in their Mardi Gras floats.  Seeing the U.S.S. Kidd float made it totally authentic for me!

Tonight we were so very blessed to have the missionaries over for dinner.  What a treat this always is!  I look at it from the angle that we paying forward for when our little Nutt’s are on missions of their own.  As well, it puts into our lives, especially the lives of Kara and Kaden, missionaries – who they are, what they do.  The current set of elders serving in our area were so much fun!  Between rough housing with the kiddos as we finished dinner prep, enjoyable dinner conversation, their good personalities, entertaining stories, and most importantly the spirits and testimonies that they share and bring we truly were blessed tonight in the Nutt House.

That said, our week is now done and before it is too late, I’m off to enjoy a silent moment all to myself tonight!
