Well, another week has come and gone for the Nutt
House. It’s been my favorite type of
week, meaning a week where time was spent as a family and with friends, a week
with laughter, love, new adventures and memories created.
This past week was Valentine’s, the week where we make a
special effort to demonstrate the love we feel for each other and our
friends. Kara and Kaden were quick to pick
up on this reason for the holiday. They
both have such big, giving hearts the holiday served as an excuse to do what
they’d want to do regardless if there was a holiday or not.
After giving Valentine’s to their friends our little Nutt’s
were eager to get to work making very special Valentine’s for their dad. With glitter, markers, stamps, glue, ribbon
and many more crafting supplies out they got to work with me present simply to
act in a supervisory role. Never have I
ever seen such love put into the creation of Valentine’s by kiddos as I did
with these. The only thing that might
have been more abundant than their love is the amount of glitter that I’m still
cleaning off the table, chairs, and floor.
Truth be told though, it was worth it and will be done again.
Our little Nutt’s are so giving and loving that Brent and I
wanted to do something special for them for Valentine’s. So, we arranged to go to Melting Pot earlier in
the week for dessert where we enjoyed s’mores fondue with fruit and
treats. I can confidently say I know
Kaden’s favorite new dessert and restaurant.
He may not clearly pronounciate fondue but he can certainly enjoy his
body’s weight worth of chocolate fondue.
While Kaden was more of the less talking more eating mindset Kara was
quick to let us know how much she enjoyed the event and is already anticipating
her return trip. Where the restaurant is
next to the grocery store I frequent I am slightly nervous for shopping trips
but glad that we have found a new family activity. One that we hope to turn into a new Valentine’s
tradition for the Nutt House.

I'd say he enjoyed it |
This week for preschool/joy school we journeyed up to the fire
station where the kiddos sat in the fire truck and toured the fire
station. While Kaden admired the firemen
with awe Kara nervously shook hands of the firemen then reported back she had
made new friends! Both our little Nutts
had fun at the fire station and want to go back. I’ve already made mental notes that we need
to go back and use the close proximity of the fire station to our advantage to
educate our little Nutts on the important role of firemen and that they aren’t
to be scared of the firemen. As well, we
can use this as a teaching opportunity as we can provide service and thanks to
the firemen for all the hard work that they do for us. *Plus it gives Kara a chance to see her new
friends again
Kara is increasing her limberness (is that even a word) in a
new class she is taking at the dance studio.
As I watch some of her stretches I look in admiration at her flexibility
and when she says ouch I am mentally crying out OUCH, OUCH OUCH!!! I do admire her perseverance as she works to
improve in her dance and flexibility skills.

Ouch!!! |
Not to be outdone with the new adventures, Kaden decided
that it was time he started to at least tease us with potty training. After months of asking if he wanted to try
going potty on the potty with a firm no as the answer each time he finally
agreed to sit on the toilet Saturday. After
over an hour of sitting and consuming multiple beverages he finally used the
potty! Now, before we start the happy
dance, as I said he was just teasing as he won’t get back on. Not yet anyway. Baby steps.
Kaden likes to do things at his pace which usually means slowly, enjoying
the scenery on the way while teaching me greater patience along the
journey. So, the way I see it, when we
are the busiest and it is hardest to dedicate the time to potty training that
is precisely when Kaden will be ready to get serious about this whole potty
training thing. What’s a parental Nutt to
do, but love and enjoy each moment we have with our youngest Nutt.

Yes, I envision this becoming bribery material later on in his life |
