Well, the plague has finally left the Nutt House! It did leave behind its nasty cousin –
allergies, but those, we can handle (we hope).
It did take until Thursday before all signs of Kara’s plague were gone but
not before a 104.4 degree temperature, a trip to the pediatrician, a chest
x-ray, and sharing for a day with her brother were had. Good times!! The first part of the week was spent reading
lots of stories, watching way more Disney Jr. than I’d like to admit, and many
games were played.
One of the games the little Nutt’s enjoyed learning how to
play was Sequence Jr. that’s one of
those games we’ve had for a while but had never really played. Having multiple days when we are sequestered
to the house brings one to find the new games, read any long forgotten about
books, etc just to keep oneself from going mad from boredom and repetition. Fortunately, there were peeks of Kara getting
better by Wednesday which worked out great as it provided both her and Kaden
with a chance to try out their new scooters.
Kara caught on to the scooter concept with relative ease whereas Kaden
is still figuring it out. Luckily, it is
light weight enough that when he chooses to pick it up to turn it around or
maneuver it where he’d like to it isn’t too challenging for him.

After the lingering illness finally left the Nutt House we
were quick to take advantage of our freedom and the good weather. Good weather and a free day meant just one
thing. A trip to the zoo was in
order. Where it was missed last time we
were at the zoo the first area we chose to explore was the petting zoo
area. As a rest was requested as soon as
we got down the hill to the petting zoo it became clear that while we weren’t
sick anymore our little Nutt’s didn’t have their full energy levels back. So, after the obligatory goat petting and a
little time at the Little People Play Area we choose to ride the train to see many
of the other animals. After which with
energy levels slightly recharged a little more play time was in order before
seeing Kara’s new favorite zoo animal, the mountain lion. After we saw the ever illusive sleeping
mountain lions we made plans for our next visit and we bid the zoo adieu.
After some much needed rest time Brent came home from work
early to surprise the kiddos with a trip to the park. And not just the park, but Desert Breeze Park
or in Kaden terminology – the train park! For this fabulous Friday park time with dad
meant scooter riding time and of course train and a carousel rides. Our fantastic Friday ended with free shaved
ice for everyone thanks to Rita’s shaved ice celebrating the first day of spring
in style. What a perfect day for the
Nutt House!

Today after
church we made dinner and packed it up to go spend quality time with Brent’s
grandparents. With family being so important
to us at the Nutt House anytime we can spend with extended family is treasured.
When we can share a meal or enjoy some
time playing games it makes that time even better!
After dinner
we cracked out the games that the little Nutt’s brought with us. After a couple intense rounds of Go Fish the
little Nutts were bored and wanted to jump on the mini trampoline and play with
the marble run. That left the grown-ups
to play Jenga. Brent hasn’t played this
game much (never having played it before Christmas) and his grandpa had never
even heard of it. All of which helped to
elevate the intensity of the game, which of course, made it more fun.
The Nutt House has been blessed with the week we’ve
had. Now, if we could just get the
allergies we all seem to have to leave, life would be bliss!
