April has been a well-rounded month for us at the Nutt House
full of adventures of all sorts.
Kara is starting to get old enough to enjoy the project days
available at local hardware stores, so earlier this month she attended her
second project day at Home Depot. She had
a blast making her bird feeder. That
little feeder has attracted several birds and has worked better than I thought
it would. Now, poor Pixie is not just
tempted by the unobtainable George but has birds taunting her – in her own
backyard!
Not to be outdone, Kaden has started playing with his little handyman kit and can pound his hammer away with the best of them.
One gorgeous April day earlier this month we were fortunate
to have Brent home with us. We didn’t want to miss out on this wonderful day so
we took off and headed to the Botanical Gardens, home of the butterfly pavilion. The gardens were enchanting as I always find
them, full of the life and the vibrancy that spring brings. It’s amazing, when I think of gardens I think
of vegetables or flowers, most of these gardens though are desert and the
beauty that can be found in the cacti and other desert plants can be truly remarkable. We’ve only been going to the gardens since
this past fall, which means we’ve never seen the butterfly pavilion in the
spring time. The butterflies in the fall
are all monarchs and there are so many of them there is hardly a surface that doesn’t
have butterflies covering it. I excepted
the same thing when we saw the butterflies earlier this month, but I was
wrong. There were more varieties of
butterflies than I knew existed. There
weren’t as many butterflies, but those that were there were breathtaking in
their beauty.
As beautiful as the butterflies were, watching Kara and
Brent enjoy the butterflies together brought more joy to me than the
butterflies themselves.
Our month would not be a typical month at the Nutt House
without some chaos and mishaps. Kaden
has taken to crawling on anything and everything he possibly can. While he enjoys this immensely, it does not
always end like he would like it to.
Kara has a little chair made out of PVC pipes that her Grandpa Lang made
for her. Kaden loves climbing in her
little chair, well, one day, the chair tried to fight back and say enough is
enough with the climbing. The result was
absolutely priceless.
With this, I am happy to say that our Nutty adventures are
all caught up. We cannot wait to share
with each of you on a more real time basis the escapades of our Nutty lives!
