Christmas and Family define our December

With one last out of order pictorial update the Nutt House closes out 2016.
December was as busy if not more so than any other month for the Nutt House.  Full of Christmas activities - parties, viewing of Christmas lights, decorating the house, Kara performing at Glendale Glitters (3 dances this year!), viewing Christmas displays all over town, the new to us world of school class winter parties, and of course, the new to us winter break from school.  It is so easy to be swept up in the commercialism of Christmas, but the Nutt House worked hard to keep our Christmas focused on Christ and family.  Through the church's "Light the World" campaign where through random acts of kindness we share what Christmas is truly about and trying to do as much as we can as a family we've found peace and love resounding throughout this month.
Winter break brought us the gift of two weeks together to have fun as a family and with friends.  We've packed as much Nutt-y fun into these past couple of weeks as possible with play dates, trips to museums, zoos, play areas and such around town.  How I have loved this time we've had together without the interruption of minor things such as school!
Christmas has been magical for our family with Kara and Kaden filled with the spirit of Christmas I found myself more than once anticipating the arrival of Santa Claus myself.  Christmas Eve we enjoyed a fun and different Christmas Eve fondue themed dinner before reading the Christmas story from the bible as a family.  With Christmas on a Sunday this year we did our best to keep our before church hours focused on family and Christ with the opening of stockings, a good Christmas breakfast and watching the church produced videos on the Nativity.  After a beautiful Christmas service at church a couple kiddos were anxious to hurry home to see what was in each of the decorated boxed awaiting us all under the tree.  We opened our presents then after Kara and Kaden opened the curtains leading to the backyard to let some light in they noticed a trampoline that Santa Claus had left them.  Those kiddos were so excited and have been outside jumping every free minute since.

2016 has brought about a lot of changes for the Nutt House.  The transition of Kara into kindergarten has brought a more stringent schedule for the entire family to adjust to.  Kara's competitive dance has also brought changes to the family.  Kaden's passion towards Lego has been a change and watching the thought processes he utilizes when building is fascinating to say the least.  I have been trying to go walking most mornings for more than half a year now and that has been a change for not only myself but the entire family as I now go to bed earlier so I'm semi awake when my alarms goes off at 5 am.  I'm volunteering at Sierra in the workroom once a week, assisting the PTO whenever possible and helping in Kara's classroom once a week as well.  Whenever Kaden's preschool has a chance for me to be involved I eagerly jump at the chance.  That in itself has been a change - Kaden going to preschool.  I miss not having my little buddy with me as much, though I am impressed at how much he has grown and developed in the few short months he's been in preschool.  As I've said before I treasure the moments I have one on one time with Kaden that I did not have prior to this year.
While 2016 has brought many a change and transition for the Nutt House, we are eternally grateful for what the changes have and do bring in our lives as well as the constants...  the fact we are a loving family that enjoys spending time together, the nightly prayer and scripture study we enjoy.  The love that exists between Kara and Kaden and the closeness they share as siblings.  The eternal relationship between Brent and myself - and as I write this on our 8th anniversary, the constant that our love is for us and our family.  The constant of our testimonies and spiritual strength.  That Brent is so talented and skilled in his chosen career and the job opportunities that provides him with.  Life is about a mix of what is constant and change and how we embrace and react to the change while not taking for granted the constants in our lives and the Nutt House works hard to do both.
As we close out 2016 we eagerly anticipate all that 2017 will have to offer us!
